Nigeria - Gunmen Attack JTF Checking Point In Kano

Pandemonium broke out in Kano on Sunday when residents of Zaria Road, Kundila and Gyadai Gyadi area of Kano  state ran helter-skelter for their safety following an     attack on  the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) check point   along Zaria Road,  near  Aminu Kano Teaching hospital (AKTH) by gunmen.
Spokesman of the Joint task force (JTF) Lieutenant Ikedichi Iweha who  confirmed the attack said  this   was repelled immediately, adding that the mobile policeman  who sustained a minor injury was treated and has since resumed duty.
He said the  gunmen escaped with gunshot into the Kundila estate, adding that the joint military task force condoned the area in search of  the gunmen.

Iweha who said no life was lost during the attack assured members of the public to go about their normal celebration without fear or apprehension.
Eye witnesses observed that armoured tanks were stationed at strategic places in the ancient city of Kano to ensure the hitch free sallah celebrations.
Our correspondent observed that fierce looking security operatives were drafted to Mosques as well as Churches to avert break down of laws and order..
It was also observed that a Military helicopter was seen hovering around the sky to checkmate unusual movement of miscreants, while plain clothes operatives were    monitoring the movement of  people.
It could be recalled that security agencies in the state urged members of the Public to report suspicious movement of persons and also to continue co-operating with the Police and other security agencies  in their bid  to check the activities of  criminals in the state.
